The learner in this case was my very good friend and "surrogate mom," Ethel. She and I attended a plein-air painting class the day I snapped a photo of her for this painting. I thought she looked so cute, a senior citizen, still learning. (She was already an accomplished painter.) Now I'm her age, and still painting!
